Sr. Logistics & Customs Manager - LZ10410
Summary: This position is responsible
for the management of the Global Logistics and Customs operations
necessary to maintain a flexible, innovative and regulatory
compliant Supply Chain. The Logistics Sr. Manager manages operations
related to the global movement of products and services and engineer
programs to meet the serviceability requirements of customer who are
increasingly demanding greater speed and flexibility at a
competitive price.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include
the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Negotiates, maintains, and communicates carrier contracts/current
pricing with ocean carriers, 3PLs, air carriers, courier providers,
freight forwarders, and US & Mexico customs brokers
Manages the efficient, timely, and cost effective global movement of
products and services
Drives corporate Logistics initiatives designed to reduce lead-time,
lower on-hand inventory requirements and provide agile and
responsive distribution
Directs programs that maximize regulatory compliance and minimize
risks associated with Customs Border Protection, Security (C-TPAT).
Manages global network of Logistics providers and leverages diverse
service offerings to maximize service performance
Employs Logistics system solutions that enhance visibility and
integration, while optimizing operational efficiencies
Provides guidance and assistance to event-related domestic/hot-shot
loads (seasonal and highly sensitive)
Directs and communicates operational procedures and expectations
with departmental staff, inter-company employees, transportation
suppliers, sourcing agents, factory partners and other applicable
business partners
Leads the development and maintenance of Logistics and Customs
policy and procedure manuals; Coordinates corporate training
programs in the areas of importing and exporting
Participates in system GFIS logistics-related “testing” initiatives
that arise on a regular basis for the department (position serves as
the primary contact for system testing—Oracle, Rockport, Discoverer,
etc.)
Maintains a proficient working knowledge of US Customs regulations
necessary to promote Customs compliance that minimize associated
risks
Facilitates the documentation and implementation of procedures
designed to ensure compliance with corporate standards and all
applicable governmental agencies including US Customs and the
Federal Trade Commission.
Participates and leads internal CTPAT Committee meetings in
coordination with the Customs Compliance Specialist
Proactively communicates and disseminates information to all GFSI
origin offices related for further dissemination to contract
vendors/suppliers; proactively encourages Customs Compliance to be
“built into” the daily processes
Reviews, Oversees, and streamlines processes to insure accurate and
timely monthly/quarterly reporting; some reports are actually
prepared and maintained by this position
Encourages department employees to gain additional education in the
field of Customs and Logistics by promoting training seminars to
facilitate in the personal knowledge development
Facilitates the weekly department meetings by maintaining structured
agendas and time-constraint boundaries.
Oversees (directly and indirectly) for the correct payments of 60+
million dollars in Vendor, duty and freight payments through GFSI
Logistics & Customs Department in conjunction with the GFSI
Accounting Department
Resolves issues related to carrier charges and assists with rate
negotiations and carrier contracts
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform each essential duty satisfactorily and have 8 years
experience in the international logistics arena. The requirements
listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; Must have
8 years of experience in International and Domestic (export/import)
along with experience in customs brokerage/compliance and imports.
Must have an Understanding of Valuation and insuring that reasonable
care requirements are met. Must be organized, detail-oriented, and
possess excellent communication and writing skills.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient
in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises two employees in the Logistics and Customs
department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance
with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training
employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising
performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing
complaints and resolving problems.
