Job Title: Senior Production Planner
Job Description: Position Summary:
Reports to Demand Manager within the Supply Chain
organization and is responsible for the planning and
scheduling of production manufacturing areas. This
entails level scheduling of production lines, equipment
and resources while maintaining delivery objectives and
minimizing outdates. Maintains a thorough understanding
of capacity for each value stream and schedules
production accordingly. The Senior Planner participates
in and leads continuous improvement activities in
alignment with the organization’s lean enterprise
vision.
Essential Functions:
Liaison with Manufacturing to ensure level loading of a
schedule on a daily and weekly basis that enables the
organization to optimize flow and productivity while
achieving customer delivery objectives.
Create daily and weekly schedules within the capacity
constraints (product, equipment or labor) as identified
for each area scheduled. Schedule effectively to achieve
delivery performance and product outdate objectives.
Maintain a thorough understanding of capacity for each
value stream. Evaluate and monitor manpower
requirements, analyze capacity problems, review machine
utilization, review product mix compared to sales demand
requirements and make decisions or recommend possible
alternatives. Coordinate with manufacturing teams to
ensure schedules and the box scores reflect the most
current capacity and constraints.
Utilize data and data mining skills to perform extensive
analyses of qualitative and quantitative nature.
Evaluate, recommend and manage planning master data in
SAP.
Release all process orders, and assign bulk and
proformas as required. This includes modification and
distribution of Device History Records in the absence of
administrative support.
Effective communications with Sales and Marketing,
Customer Service, Purchasing, Quality, QRC, Senior
Leadership and support functions to enable flow and pull
systems aligned to the customer takt time, to the extent
possible, while maximizing customer service levels.
Coordinate with Sales and Customer Support departments
to ensure customer requirements are met and complaints
are resolved in a timely and acceptable manner.
Understand and drive reduction of backorders/backlog
that negatively impacts the customer. Complete weekly
analysis of top backorder/backlog contributors.
Maintain visual management boards and required Supply
Chain metrics such as Fill Rate, DOS, Outdates.
Participate in the SIOP process to align supply and
demand. Interface with the forecaster to review sales
trends and forecasts to optimize planning activities and
coordinate new product introductions and custom
products.
Participate and lead continuous improvement efforts.
Analyzing problems, developing solutions and increasing
business growth by applying PPI and lean principles.
Ensure compliance with company standards for cost
control, EHS and external agencies.
Direct and support Demand Manager in strategic and
tactical activities. Challenge current manufacturing
strategies and participate in developing and
implementing solutions for lean planning and scheduling
operations.
Adhere to all company policies and regulatory
requirements. Act as internal educator and consultant on
Supply Chain issues, providing education and training
throughout the company.
Create and maintain a safe work environment, reporting
any actual or potential safety hazards to the EHS Safety
Specialist or Senior Management.
Travel as required.
In addition, other duties may be assigned as the need
arises.
